Data Recovery Process

Data loss can result from a number of reasons including electronic failure, mechanical failure and human error, virus damage, software corruption or water or fire damage.

Data recovery is an attempt to retrieve lost data from a variety of media sources including hard disk drives, flash cards and USB drives.

This delicate process requires specialised equipment and high technical expertise. Successful data recovery is achieved in the majority of cases however data recovery might fail in some instances.

To obtain data recovery service, drop off your laptop along with the signed Data Recovery Request Form to either our Service Centre (90 Dunning Avenue, Rosebery NSW 2018) OR…

  1. Complete, print, and sign the Data Recovery Request Form
  2. Box your laptop or storage media strictly as per our Packing Instructions and enclose the above form
  3. Hand-address the box to the Reply Paid address as per the format below:

  4. Record your ‘Return to Sender’ address on the box
  5. Deliver the box to your nearest Australia Post outlet (no postage charge is payable)
  6. Purchase a Registered Post Label (priced at $2.95) at the Australia Post counter so that proof of lodgement and proof of delivery are provided to you. You might also want to consider purchasing insurance cover. Please inquire about this optional service at the Australia Post counter. Note that we are not responsible for lost or damaged parcels, including but not limited to consequential loss. The sender accepts all risks.

What happens next?

We will email you a Job Booking Receipt with a job number reference once we receive your laptop or storage media at our service centre. We will then perform a comprehensive diagnosis to provide you with a quote for the data backup service. Once you have approved our quote, we will start the data recovery process according to your request. Successful data is usually returned on DVDs if the data volume recovered is less than 20 GB. Note that you can purchase an external hard drive from us or supply us with your own if the quantity of data dictates the need for one.
